I was in Tulsa a couple of weeks ago at the Workshop. A friend at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, Sherwood, Arkansas, Gary H. asked me to attend a class about NextStepChristianRecovery (NSCR). At that time Hope House was twenty months old. The concept of the future operation as I understood it was to expand what is currently a modest non-resident outreach program into a full fledged in-resident recovery program. At present there is no cost and Hope House hosts weekly recovery programs using the AA & NA twelve step programs of which I was a member. My friend and his business partner (an Elder at Somers Avenue Church of Christ in North Little currently manage a non-profit, in-patient, substance abuse recovery facility in Searcy, Arkansas for teens through (I think) age 22. From my observation there appears to be a significant amount of interest and resources to expand that operation to meet the growing needs of older adults. I have known these men for a number of years and ran my law office out their office building until 2005. One of my cohorts is currently attending the Bear Valley School of Preaching with the intent of going back to Sherwood as a Minister of the Gospel. I cannot adequately convey the fullness of my faith in these men. Suffice it to say, that I trust them with my life and my soul. I will get you updated information as soon as it is available to me. To keep it, I have give away, one day at a time. Thank-you for interest and, Best regards.
